We’re sorry for facts that have been discovered, but after big and really long discussion
we have decided to continue project
and create new team which will contains
active developers from old team, then two new scripters, dialog writers,
translators .
We hope that we can manage to finish this project until end of this month.
Another case is that Closed Beta Test is still running, and If somebody is interested in testing,
then check forum.

Because of inactivity of developers and impossiblity to finish project Desert Europe with few person, OBT is suspended.
We will inform you about every change, even lf activity of team will be like now,
then OBT have no chance to be faster than in half of year.

We are so glad, that we can tell you about decisions, that we’ve made.
We planned, that we will open server on 1st January of 2012, we would present you plans on future:

1) Start of CBT before relase, which allow us to search bugs and “make its much more better” prepared for you PVP system
For now we are starting to work on PvE and RPG system, that’s the way why we can’t release it for now.
Game will be released in 3 languages – english, polish and russian, but for now we can’t say, that would translate every dialog on russian. In this case we are looking for your help. When we are adding next languages will be with your abilities. RPG system will be still developed. Of course we want to test performance of our server to keep as good as possible comfort for players.

2) 1.1.2012 - Open Beta Test release. We hope, that everyone will find something for himself and you will be shocked about tactic PvP gameplay, but we have a special places for single player.
We hope, that Turn-Based mode fans could feel like at home
We are very glad, that we can inform you, that we are offer to players free mumble servers. Every active group interested in our offer please to contact by email mumble@fode.eu or at game forum. We are glad, that progress is going so fast, especially, that we can share it with you

3) If we will have your attention, then we can publish some of our source code and you will be able to get a some change from our code and you will be abe to get close to our project, but you have to be compatible with FODE server. This action is only for integrate our project, and you will be able to envolve this game. It will be Lite version of FODE, contained only main elements considers for FODE.

Progress

Hey again!

So close yet so far :)
Work on a project is going very well – we have made a big progress since the last news.
This includes:
-New PipBoy (chat, bank, radio, quest log, faction panel, etc.)
-New quests/dialogs
-TC system
-Many new gameplay ideas
-Obtaining resources (mining, cutting down trees)
-Riding cars inside locations (available only on events)
-Many new event ideas
-Using a mech robot-Possibility of giving orders to team members (move to, attack, defend)
-New scenery graphics
-New maps
We don’t know exact beta release date. We are working on it :)

After first test…

Hi there !

Some days ago, we made the first open test of Desert Europe, and people could see some things from the future game. We received many happy reactions and we thank you all for it, because it was an unexpected boost for our team. But we must say you didn’t see much at all. That’s why we’re now working harder than ever for the future test. We hope to launch beta stage in about one month.

Right now, we’re working on different things :
- Weapons balance : it didn’t work as expected during open test and we’re now testing new formulas for a better balance.
- Scripting : many things are ready or almost, so for this point we’re really on the good way.
- Mapping : we focus on fixing maps and create new ones, including capitals.
- Sceneries : we hope to be able to get fitting huge sceneries, for important places and better immersion in European civilization.
- Dialogs & quests : we began to write many dialogs for the game. We hope to be able to offer an acceptable amount of quests at start, and continue to work on it as often as possible.

You’ll get information as the works advances. Next news should also introduce the two factions.

We’re still alive !

Howdy Ho, dear Wastelanders !

I received many messages from people thinking that the project was dead, or at least agonizing. You’re so impatient, fellas ! In fact, we’re working very hard these days, and things are going well ! Many important features have been finished or almost, and the rest is following :

- Different gui panels have been realized : one for GM’s, one for banks, one for faction management and one for base management.
- Factions’ system’s scripts are done.
- Economic system and all the ways to control it, are done.
- Background of the two factions is done.
- Critters are ready for the biggest part, and are being implemented in the game right now.
- Almost all weapons and items in general have been balanced. It will needs further large-scale testing, of course.
- Gameplay experience has been analyzed, discussed and developed. It is now clear and we’re developing locations on this basis.
- Mapping has been pretty slow so far, but since some days we receive the help of some Hungarian friends, which are really enthusiastic and productive. We’ll be able to focus more on this point soon.
- Crafting system and all scripts involved are about to be finished.
- PvP and TC-like systems are our next focus. Our ideas are already clear and we discussed a lot about this subject.
- I may have forgotten other things. Well. Maybe the occasion to make another news in the future days!

We still plan to make a first closed balance test at the end of this month. The conditions of this test are not yet clearly defined. We’ll see where we are at this point concerning development state.

By the way, is here a little video made by Xenom. You can discover a map made by RAS when he was relaxing from other difficult jobs (;D), crafting items of the game also made by him, different integrated new sceneries… made/integrated by him (no no, he doesn’t make the whole game alone !). And listen one track made by our music composer, The Glow INC. You can also see at start an artwork from our official artist, Cryofluid, who is working right now on the introduction video.

Work in progress

Hello there !

We have some news for you, dear Wastelanders !

First, here is the first usable version of the European worldmap :

It’s still work in progress, but advanced enough to show it ! :)

We’re working hard right now on scripting part of the project and on development of the two main factions who struggle for technological supplies. We also began to design the capitals, which will be really important for every aspect of the game. We are confident about our development speed right now.

PvP will be really a major asset of Desert Europe, but cooperative PvE (dungeons) will also appear in the game, involving close relations with the crafting system. We hope all these related features will bring the best experience for players. Roleplay is also one of our main focusing, since we wanna players to be able to leave their print on the European Wasteland.

We hope to be able to organize a first alpha test at the end of August. Of course server will not be ready for intense playing, but only for testing features, scripts and weapons balances. We’ll also post different polls on the forum after that, about lots of background points. Mostly about stuff coming from US Lore, to allow people to decide if they wanna for example have some important item without any change, or not. That’s your opportunity, as players, to decide such things !

Big bunch of news !

Hello everyone !

We have lot of news to announce about the server. In this article you will find a list of features that have been decided by the team. Lots are already done, and many other ones are in progress. Desert Europe is meant to be a cooperative PvP – PvE game in the ruins of the Falloutish post-war Europe, where two powerful organizations fight for the global domination.

- Worldmap including from London at the West to Moscow at the East, with all the countries between.
- Players’ level cap has been fixed to 28 for HP’s and perks, skills can still be raised further.
- Players’ HP’s amount will be close to 300.
- Damage types : Normal, Fire, Explosive and Energy.
- Crafting system divided in four levels :
First : you can craft alone and gather the components by yourself.
Second : NPC’s from cities are needed to craft your items.
Third : NPC’s from special locations like, for example, destroyed weapon factory or nuclear reactor are needed to craft your items.
Fourth : NPC’s from these special locations are needed, and you’ll also need to gather special sub elements that are very difficult to find or craft.
- There are two main NPC’s factions who strike for domination, with players’ sub factions, mostly attached to these two powers.
- Combat style : TB/RT with running ability for everyone. PvP, PvE, Players’ teams vs NPC’s in special game locations and quests.
- Many perks for armors, like +x% to some skill (only for 1st group non combat armors).
- New weapons perks, like  radiation effects,  deterioration effects,  more knockdowns,  poisoning.
- New character perks like Critical Resistance x3 and Professionalist on  lvl 27 (up other skill to 200).
- Deleted perks : Sniper, Terminator, Slayer.
- Timeouts for mining and crafting deleted.
- Bases : little hideouts can be created by only one player, and player’s factions are registered in cities, not in bases. You can create your base everywhere you want.
- Special base called “Parking”, that will be great to encounter people and to craft, but that will exist only for few hours.
- Many new skins, many new weapons and armors, a new interface, traveling system…
Right now, inside the French community, we’re working on the background, trying to fit to the Fallout’s Lore. During that time, our friends developers from many countries are focusing on all these technical features, and going further and further to make it as great as expected.

Project was started in March this year with only two people. the idea wasn´t only reaction on existing TLA server clones, but also for shortcomings in other projects. Objective of the project is hearing most players opinions (eg probe interesting ideas), with the simultaneous possibility of creating entire world of the game (maps, quests, fixes etc.).

This opening to the international community is supposed to cause , that game was as long resound living, excite unconny emotion and giving full satisfaction, witch heterogeneity of the playing possibilities (RPG, PVP, P&PVE). Now 10 people are working on the project, and changes which we led in such a short time are impressive, even for ourselves.

Whole system is almost ready, engine is fixed, we added a lot of real weapons, a revolutionary energy weapon system was implemented. From now energy weapons will be setting the lower injuries, but will be responsible for tactical operations. Imagine, shooting with energo-rocket launcher, you´re causing knockdowns and lost turns in the center of a bigger enemies’ party placed on a wrong position. Another option is firing into the opponent burst of bullets, which instead of damage violently are increasing his dose of radiation, and quite quickly make him unable to fight. Other interesting possibility is a weapon causing damage to weapons and enemy’s armor.

That’s all is waiting for you in closed pre-alpha testing, which will be held within the next 3 months. If you are interested and want to help us get proper balance weapons, write to us.

The project is open to the international community and everyone who wants to become a developer and to help us in a project also is welcome to contact us. You don’t have to be computer expert, but important is your ambitions and regularity.  If after the month of the cooperation you want to contribute to the project, then u will get status of the developer.
